LASER METAL DEPOSITION
WELDING WITH PRECISION AND FLEXIBILITY
The Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) process is characterised in particular by its high build-up rates with very fine structures, for its material diversity with flexible material change during the process and finally for flexible build-up welding on free-form surfaces. It must be mentioned here that the additional material can be added as wire or powder. The advantage of laser wire build-up welding is the full utilisation of the material.
Due to the strength of the laser, the machine must be designed to prevent the laser from escaping. Nevertheless, this process can also be used in our mobile machine with the help of mobile laser protection walls. Thanks to our parallel kinematics machine, the innovative process of LMD becomes even more innovative. This combination enables us to repair components of any shape or to produce new parts generatively. This process, like the WAAM and SEAM processes, can be used hybrid in combination with milling.
Repair processes can be completed excellently. The laser has a high precision and a low heat input. This ensures a high degree of shape and dimensional accuracy of the workpiece to be processed. Thanks to the parallel kinematics, welding of free-form surfaces or additive manufacturing on curved surfaces is possible.
