The Company 1A Technologies has been making a big impact with its new 3D Printing technology. The company and Fraunhofer IWU have developed a new 3D printing tool that has revolutionized the way products are made. The story of 1A Technologies

1A Technologies is a spin-off from Fraunhofer IWU. In 2020, our CTO Marcus Witt took the big step of spinning off this innovation from Fraunhofer and launching the Screw Extrusion Additive Manufacturing (SEAM) on the market. 1A Technologies is thus under one roof with METROM. Marcus and Susanne Witt are a couple and two young CEOs who complement each other perfectly. The result of this incredible collaboration can be seen, among other things, in this award.

German Innovation Award

The German innovation Award was presented for the first time in 2018. The idea behind it is to award small companies with innovative solutions throughout Germany. This is the fifth award. Our CTO now dared the step to apply with 1A Technologies after several years of maturation. And there was no doubt: The SEAM 3D printing tool is truly an innovation! Unique 3D Printing technology

1A Technologies is a company that has been awarded the German Innovation Award for its outstanding innovation and contribution to the industry. The company has developed a new 3D Printing technology that has revolutionized the way products are manufactured. The new technology has been used to create products that are more big and industrierelevant but at the same time costeffieciently. Its a 3D extrusion tool that uses cheap granulates. This system has an out put rate of 7kg per hour. So printing of big industrial relevant components its possible.

But what makes this tool so special from the competition is the patented bypass system. This bypass system is located just before the discharge nozzle and ensures the regulation of the discharge volume. This brings many advantages. On the one hand, thickening of the wall can be prevented in curves, for example. On the other hand, the nozzle can jump from one place to another without discharging material from the nozzle.

And since it is a “standalone tool”, it can also be used in any machine kinematics. We at METROM have also been able to integrate this tool into our P-Series CNC machines, ensuring an automatic tool change between the cutter and the SEAM tool. If you are interested, please contact us at any time!
